Malaysia Broadband Service Comparison – DiGi, Maxis Broadband & Celcom Broadband [Extreme Round: July 2011]

We meet again in MBSC (Malaysia’s Broadband Service Comparison). After about a year, lot of things happened and some goes awful and some goes really handy and better. The last review I did the reviews on these BSP (Broadband Service Provider) is on 27 July 2010 and readers keep mailing me , “When you gonna update the score?”.
As debate is going on, TM Streamyx is excluded from this review as most readers doesnt agree to include that giant on portable broadband. So now the MBSC will be shortlisting the most voted BSP for the review.
Sorry! I’m just too busy with all development, research and my studies. Well, we have up and downs in life. Okay, get ready to be amazed. We’ll get serious on them!
Number One : Celcom Broadband
After a year of the previous review, I’m shocked and amazed with Celcom. The services are getting better, coverage is wider and ahh.. its a breeze to use celcom now! A lot improvement has being done by the company and one thing for sure. It works! Previously, if you experience frequent DC (Disconnection of Internet Connection) – Now it is over. I have tested and experienced these problem in the past and now when I work on 24-48 hours; no DC at all (I’m in Kota Kinabalu which located quite bit far from the City Center). The coverage is excellent! Now I can surf the internet under my bed, or while playing hide and seek with my niece in my closet. Okay, thats a joke. But believe me, the coverage is excellent.
Every broadband have its pro and cons- so did Celcom. Although I can get all excellent features of Internet but theres a pay back : The payment cost. As I subscribed to National Broadband Initiative (NBI), it only requires me to pay RM100 to get the service and a broadband stick. As for the monthly basis for two years, I’ll be paying RM48. However, on the first month of the subscribtion, I have being charged for RM38.70 for unknown service charge – I’m really get pissed off as the promoter has said that there is no additional fees for anything and yet I have to pay for this stamp duty charge.
To make it simplified, here are the winning and comparison main points why they got the number one in MBSC July 2011:
CELCOM BROADBAND VERDICT
GOOD POINTS
- Consistency and Connection Speed
- No Contract Anymore
- Free Modem
- Friendly Customer Service
- Wide Coverage
BAD POINTS
Celcom broadband is now better and compatitive however, there’s something for them to improve. Here are the factors that they might need to improve in order to maintain the number one rating in this comparison:
- Out of Quota, you out! – Once the quota had runs out, you will experience the “internet speed nightmare”. Dont ask why if you cant play some Flash games such Farmville, Cityville or Empires and Allies in Facebook nor other games
- Pricy Addons Service - You got to be serious when you are out of quota and you can smile by simply purchase a whole lot PRICY cost of RM15 for 1GB of new caps or 5GB for RM50.
Number Two: Maxis Broadband
Yay! If you are a fan of maxis, please give yourself a pat on the back.. Although previously being the underdog in broadband history, this BSP comes with a new fresh and amazing deal on board. The speed and the coverage are incredible, plus more value for your money. As might many concern, the company provides almost the same price of its services to Celcom Broadband. If you seek for an alternative of Celcom, Maxis is the one. As for the coverage, it covers a huge and wide areas in peninsular and as well as in Sabah and Sarawak. Unfortunately, the internet connection is not yet stable and experience disconnection upon unknown reason.
MAXIS BROADBAND VERDICT
GOOD POINTS
- Free Modem
- Friendly Customer Service
- Wide Coverage
BAD POINTS
Maxi broadband is now better and compatitive however, there’s something for them to improve. Here are the factors that they might need to improve in order to achieve or get the number one rating as what Celcom has won in this comparison:
- Internet Connection Consistency - Main coverage on populated areas and residental are needed if you wish to enter the competition. Although you achieve that, consistency of speed is the number one you had to consider. Unknown disconnection of Internet is unacceptable.
Number Three: DiGi Broadband
If you are a fan of DiGi, you might want to reconsider any available option for your internet.. Get some parachutes and jump out from this service! I have bailed out myself from the worst Internet experience I ever met. As previously they got the intention of being the best BSP, now it really a pain in your tooth! As the price is cheap, the service is utterly disaster. As from the great deal, comes the bad coverage and terrible usage caps. What should I say to confirm this? Right now I still in debt to DiGi for almost RM2++ for things that I didnt use. They form a contract to their early customer previously and those being a traitor to them.. You will get the monthly bills although you didnt use this terrible broadband. Okay, if you are DiGi supporters – Dont get mad at me. All my friends and my sister is switching off away from DiGi. So, its your turn to decide (If you are smart enough to use the terrible thing).
DiGi BROADBAND VERDICT
GOOD POINTS
- No Contract Anymore for New User
- Free Modem
- Friendly Customer Service
BAD POINTS
DiGi broadband is now getting worst than ever and It doesnt make us happy anymore. Here are the factors that they might need to improve in order to achieve or get the number one rating as what Celcom has won in this comparison:
- Internet Connection Consistency - Main coverage on populated areas and residental are needed if you wish to enter the competition. DiGi missed this opportunity and chosen to be the worst after a year of the previous review.
- Price and Values - Now people are racing to pay less at great values. Its really uncompetitive to serve a price that unreasonably high but at low quality. DiGi broadband is such a broadband sucker now.
- Low Cost, Low Quality – Its really a shame on DiGi. They offer a cheap service at a low quality.

A few hour ago I just finished up…
A few hour ago, I just finished up with all the interviews on “Kami Bah Ini” talk show which featured myself on Jom!Fix topic. The show will be aired on 10 July 2011 at Astro Channel 180.
Captain America will make a different name
The title will still be the same in Malaysia and the rest of the world except in Russia, Ukraine and South Korea.

Some speculation and reason has explained the changes of movies titles might changing in foreign countries as for cultural reasons or unsuitable translation in foreign languages.
Starring Chris Evans as the patriotic super-soldier, “Captain America” opens in U.S. theaters July 22. This movie is directed by Joe Johnston and also starred by Hugo Weaving as the supervillain.
The Red Skull was first introduced in Captain America Comics #1 in 1941. The first Red Skull (George Maxon) to appear in comics was an American industrialist turned Nazi saboteur.
Maxon turned out to be an agent of the true Red Skull (Johann Schmidt), considered (according to S.H.I.E.L.D.) as one of the greatest threats to humanity, and a long-time enemy of Captain America.
The third Red Skull (Albert Malik) is best known for causing the deaths of the parents of Peter Parker, and thus orphaning the boy who would become Spider-Man.
The Red Skull was ranked number 21 on Wizard Magazine’s Top 100 Greatest Villains Ever list and was also ranked as IGN’s 14th Greatest Comic Book Villain of All Time. (Source)
Here are some movie trailer for the CA:TFA
This make me wonder, what if Transformers translated into another one.. What would it be?
Bieber’s Vanity Fair Cover Worst Selling
If you put Lady Gaga on the your magazine, it sure sell well and it might do as well as if it is Taylor Swift. However, it is much surprise (or not) when the 17-year-old Justin Bieber cover for the February 2011 issue of Vanity Fair which starred by the boy itself, fall into the bottom of the sales chart that usually the VF sales usually do – in fact, for the VF magazine, the number of selled magazine are horrifying.

Bieber’s Vanity Fair issue sold 246,000 copies, 28 percent below the magazine’s average of 342,000 for the first half of the year. Since editor Graydon Carter took over the magazine in 1992, only two other covers have performed this poorly — a 1999 Will Smith issue and a 1993 Harrison Ford one.
According to WWD (Women’s Wear Daily), this is not an anomaly. According to them, Bieber also appeared on an October 2010 Teen Vogue cover that sold 121,054 issues, 12 percent below the magazine’s 2010 average. His April 2010 People cover sold 961,762 copies, 25 percent below the weekly’s average, making it the publication’s third-worst seller of the year.
So, what is happening to Bieber’s Fever? Is it cooling down?
What say you?

Maher Zain : The Great Vocal
As I write, Maher Zain‘s songs are played over and over again 24/7 around the world in the radio stations, shuffled in the iPod, looped continously in the mp3 player and even the YouTube.
The artist itself, Maher Zain was born in Tripoli, Lebanon in 1982. He is a Swedish singer and music producer of Lebanese origin, mainly sings the spiritual Muslim songs and nasheeds. His first album Thank You Allah of 13 tracks and two bonus songs was released on 1 November 2009. He sings in a number of languages, but mainly in English and Arabic. His music videos on YouTube have collectively gained millions of views as you read now.
bibliography
Leaving behind a lucrative career in the mainstream music industry in New York wherein he worked with internationally renowned producer RedOne who has worked with chart-topping artists Akon, Lady Gaga, Enrique Iglesias and the late Michael Jackson to mention just a few, Maher chose instead to make music which reflects his roots of being both European, Arab and Muslim and he is working with Awakening Records (who launched the career of British artist Sami Yusuf) to inspire the youth across the world. In early March 2010, Maher’s debut album Thank You Allah (released by Awakening Records) was the No.1 highest selling album on Amazon (in the world music section). Maher has already had concerts in Sweden, Canada, Australia, US, UK, France, Egypt, Algeria, and Bahrain to mention just a few. With his passion, incredible talent and unique style, the sky is the limit for Maher.
Maher’s first musical inspiration came from his father, who was a singer himself, performing locally in the beautiful Mediterranean city of Tripoli – Lebanon. Fascinated by the music and instruments, Maher got his first keyboard when he was only ten and ever since music officially became an integral part of Maher’s world. His family moved to Sweden when Maher was only 8, where he continued his schooling, and later entered university and got a Bachelors degree in Aeronautical Engineering. With things changing around him, one thing remained the same – his strong passion for music. He would spend late nights at school with his friends where they would sing, rap, compose and experiment with music in every way. It didn’t take him long to realize that music became an integral part of who he is.
After being involved for a while in the music scene as a music producer, Maher was introduced to RedOne, a gifted music producer who was fast rising in the music scene in Sweden. Maher started working with RedOne and later moved to New York. For a few years he was in the middle of the hot rush of the NY music industry, working with chart topping artists such as Kat Deluna on her debut album including smash hits ‘Whine up’ and ‘Run the Show’. Maher had what many would describe as a dream job for someone so young in such a glamorous business, but for Maher it felt like this was far from what he would call ‘the dream’, “I loved the music but I hated everything that surrounded it, it always felt like something wasn’t right”.
In January 2009, Maher Zain decided to work on an album that reflects his identity – Arab, Western and Muslim – and signed with Awakening Records. Maher’s debut album Thank You Allah reached the number 1 spot on Amazon’s World Music charts and number 9 on the R&B charts.
In January 2010, in a music competition organized by Nujoom FM (Egypt’s biggest music radio station) Maher’s track ‘Ya Nabi Salam Alayka’ was voted as the Best Song for 2009. Runners up included big names like Hussein Aljismi, Mohammed Mounir and Sami Yusuf. Maher has already performed at sold out concerts in Algeria, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Egypt, England, France, Holland, Sweden, and the US amongst others and is fast becoming the ‘next superstar of Islamic music’.
Maher Zain’s album mixes the sounds of R&B with traditional spiritual, soul and contemporary pop music, not just updating spiritual music and inshad but fearlessly reviving it with contemporary flair. Maher’s debut album Thank You Allah is an instant classic of great power and timeless, unassailably intense spirituality.
Maher is fast becoming recognized as one of modern Islamic Music’s seminal voices after his ground-breaking single and animated music video “Palestine Will Be Free,” his music video “Insha Allah” shot on location in London and directed by famous British director Mike Harris who has worked with Coldplay and Madonna among others, and his latest video “The Chosen One” – about the life and the peaceful teachings of Prophet Muhammad – shot in Los Angeles. Maher Zain is clearly poised to take up modern Islamic Music to a new level. As a supremely gifted artist and producer, Maher brings his music to a wider audience not by watering down his message, but by making songs of supreme power, conviction, and glorious beauty, fusing elements of R&B, traditional spiritual music, pop, Arabic and Turkish music into daring arrangements.
After his experience in the Music Industry, Maher feels blessed to able to finally find the right way, put his talent to its best use, and produce music that is closer to his roots, and he feels like it’s his turn now to help others through his music to do the same:
“If I had one thing I’d like to tell people out there it would be that it’s so easy to see the right way if we just open our eyes and look properly; that’s what happened to me.”
Career
After being involved for a while in the music scene as a music producer, Maher was introduced to RedOne, a Swedish music producer of Moroccan origin in Sweden. Maher started working with RedOne and later moved to New York where he took part in producing Kat DeLuna, Abdel Rahman Aouni and others. Then he returned for a while to Sweden where he had his religious awakening. In January 2009, Maher Zain began working on an album and signed with Awakening Records.
Maher has toured the Middle East, the United States for a 5-city our with Islamic Relief and has had a highly successful tour in Malaysia. Maher Zain first album titled Thank You Allah was ranked first in the Amazon World Music charts and ninth place in the chart R & B. His album went platinum in Malaysia.
In January 2009, Zain won Best Religious Song for 2009 from Nujoom FM radio for “Ya Nabi Salam Alayka”.
The music video “The Chosen One”, which tells the story of the life and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad that is based on peace, and was recorded in Los Angeles.
Album(s)
His first album titled ” Thank You Allah” was released on 1 November 2009 and went platinum in Malaysia and also around the globe. With his songs teaches good and advices that suits to muslims and non-muslims, it describe how the album brings peace upon its listeners. The album contained 15 songs which are:

Hey, what are you doing with my Google!
Hey, did you realize about Google Search today?
Cool isnt? The google logo today as a sign of celebration of 11th Anniversary of the X-rays discovery.
Did you know how X-Ray is invented? I bet you might not!
As with many of mankind’s monumental discoveries, X-ray technology was invented completely by accident. In 1895, a German physicist named Wilhelm Roentgen made the discovery while experimenting with electron beams in a gas discharge tube. Roentgen noticed that a fluorescent screen in his lab started to glow when the electron beam was turned on. This response in itself wasn’t so surprising — fluorescent material normally glows in reaction to electromagnetic radiation — but Roentgen’s tube was surrounded by heavy black cardboard. Roentgen assumed this would have blocked most of the radiation.
Roentgen placed various objects between the tube and the screen, and the screen still glowed. Finally, he put his hand in front of the tube, and saw the silhouette of his bones projected onto the fluorescent screen. Immediately after discovering X-rays themselves, he had discovered their most beneficial application. [Source]
Whoops! Now we get it!
Thats so cool about the accidents. Every each of what happened owned its lesson!

Sorry, my brain is fried.
Okey, this story starts on after the Industrial Economics final exam; which make my brain totally ‘fried’.
Maybe as the effect of a lot of tense and heavy things on academics stuff, I ran out back to my room at 5pm and after that going for a Asar prayer which help calm myself a bit.
With the heavy artillery bombing inside this skull, I started to think another problem : money! (You got to be kidding me!?) I have ran out of money and the ATM machine is like a super duper far away from the college!
I manage to call Roeysson, thanks to this dude, (cut and forwarded tape) I finally sit inside his Viva car and having a great day. At first, we actually just planning for an ATM visit, but then things gets really exciting to the movie thing (thanks to the ‘fried’ brain), we call ourselves for a movie at GSC, 1 Borneo.
We buy ourselves the “TAKERS” – A friend of mine recommend it to me while chatting on the phone a few days ago. Sigh, he said while he watching that movie, a total blackout was happened in the middle of the movie at GSC! (What the heck!). Hope that didnt end with me too!
While waiting for the showtime, which starts on 7.15pm, we have our dinner at McDonalds (Oh for god sake, burger!) and at the same time I manage to get some new version of Supreme Commander 2 (which I have the DVD in my home, due to temptation for a new version arise, i buy it).
Here are the Supreme Commander 2 (RTS) cover

Supreme Commander 2
Whew~ full and loaded! Then its a movie time!

Takers - A great movie with "grab and run" scene
A great movie with way so different plot (which in common films, the bad guys are always get cuffed and the good guys ended up without a scratch) that really makes me go “uh?? so that mr? Isnt they get caught?”. Okey, if you want to find out about what I mumbled about, go watch this movie. Else, if you know what I mean, isnt it??
After ending the movie-tour, we went back to Roeysson’s apartment which located a few kilometers away from UiTM. Ended up reading the book of International Economics with full of lust to gain every inch of the paragraph, I called it a stop at 2AM. No Facebook! No web-thing! No Smallville stuff!
Accompanied with Malay drama’s and a lot of Deepavali’s advert on the classic TV of Roeysson, I feel secured and entertained. So thats all peeps. (I’m too tired to write much about what happened today)
Good night! My brain is fried!

p/s : Sorry for unappropriated uses of commas. I lost my grammar skills after more than 5000 words of examination elaboration. *sigh*
Scary Story
Good night peeps!
I’m too tired to post something today but I tell you a story if you click here
Will be back tomorrow!
